Toledo Jazz Orchestra

The Toledo Jazz Orchestra sponsors the Junior Jazz Orchestra, a youth jazz ensemble directed by Ron Kischuk. The Junior Jazz Orchestra plays before concerts and has its own performance in the spring.

Auditions for the Junior Jazz Orchestra are held the first week of November. The group rehearses on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. from mid-November through mid-May.

Educational Concerts

The Toledo Jazz Orchestra also performs for school assemblies for students of all ages. A series called “The Evolution of Jazz” features explosive jazz numbers with an educational component, including an understanding of improvisation that any student can appreciate, regardless of their music knowledge. The series is comprised of four levels that can be scheduled in successive semesters or years creating a fulfilling musical element for school assemblies.

School Clinics

The Orchestra brings an ensemble or individual performer to perform and educate in a format tailored specifically for music students. The format is crafted for each specific band and its needs as determined by the school’s ensemble director. This offers the students the maximum benefit to receiving valuable information at a level they can access and appreciate.

Private Lessons

Private instruction is available through a number of the highly trained educators in the Toledo Jazz Orchestra. Lessons are taught on the campus of The University of Toledo. Please contact us for additional information.
